Levofloxacin Interactions with Caffeine

Levaquin (name brand for levofloxacin) has the potential to cause several serious side effects, interact with a number of medications and certain supplements, and can interact with certain foods and drinks 5. The use of alcohol with griseofulvin is not recommended by the National Consumers League, the FDA, or the NIH (4, 5). Levofloxacin is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. It is also used to treat anthrax infection after inhalational exposure. Levofloxacin is also used to treat and prevent plague (including pneumonic and septicemic plague). Products that contain magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, and/or other minerals may interfere with the absorption of levoFLOXacin into the bloodstream and reduce its effectiveness.

To our knowledge, there are no data available on the efficacy/toxicity or ADR of penicillins.
